Fees
There is never a charge for our initial phone consultation and we can discuss fees at that time. At our subsequent in-person consultation(s), if we decide to work together, we will establish a fee. My fees are generally commensurate with other psychoanalysts/psychotherapists in the area. I have made a commitment to seeing some people, for example students, at reduced fees. Please speak with me about financial concerns as we are having our initial sessions. Initial consultation and assessment sessions are 90 minutes. Individual sessions are 50 minutes.
Insurance
Please note that I am an out-of-network provider, as I do not participate in any insurance panels. I do provide invoices which can be submitted to your insurance carrier, if you wish to do so. Many insurance plans will reimburse their clients a percentage of out-of-pocket expenses after a deductible is met. However, you should check with your insurance plan to find out what their policy is for seeing out-of-network providers. Seeing an out-of-network provider gives you privacy, freedom of choice in the therapist you wish to see and freedom from insurance-related restrictions such as frequency of sessions and length of treatment. A psychiatric diagnosis is required for insurance reimbursement and this becomes part of your permanent record. This could be shared with other insurance companies and in some cases released to your employer if you have a company insurance plan. Research suggests that third party intrusion into treatment compromises the quality of mental health care provided.
Payment
Payment is by cash or check. I invoice monthly for sessions at the end of the month.
